Dancing as a Spiritual Practice
Dancing is one of the greatest pleasures in life. Using dance to go into trance dates back 40,000 years. Since before time we would listen to the beat of our hearts, like Wilbur Alex, “Professor Trance”, would say.
Ancient cultures dance to go into trance to connect to their higher selves to receive guidance and wisdom from the spirit of love. A trance is a deep meditative state.
When our mind is relaxed and fully focused on the present moment, that’s when we are fully connected to our higher selves.
There are many different pathways one can take to arrive in that state of mind. But the destination is the same.
The destination is to be in a state of love union with that creative force that is connected to everything feeling completely blessed, fully present and alive.
When you’re in that state, your whole body feels like it’s vibrating at a very high rate of speed. You feel electric, can feel your life force pulsing through you.
Dancing is one of the most joyful ways to get there. Joy, happiness, love; all the positive emotions offer healing power more than any other energy that exists.
When you’re dancing, your cells, your heart rate, everything starts to speed up.
When you start to focus on your breath and the music and how your body feels, you drop in to being fully present within yourself and the energy around you.
Then you start to connect to that energy of union by linking the body, the breath, the music all together as one, and it becomes Yoga.
Music can be very healing; different sound frequencies have the ability to heal the mental, physical, and spiritual body.
Pranayama, or focusing on the breath, has the ability to clean entire physical, emotional and mental bodies, and regenerate the cells.
Dancing can be another form of asana.
Asana is designed to balance the physical body and build strength and flexibility, opening all the energy channels. Dancing does the same thing.
It’s hard not to smile when dancing. It is a great way to generate joy and happiness within the self. It also can be a great release of trapped emotions or stuck energy in the system.
When we move with intention we can move mountains.
The power of the mind is great. It is the master control center of our entire system. We can heal ourselves with the mind by focusing on balancing our energy fields.
We don’t have to understand it fully; just plug-in to your higher self and let your inner healer take over.
We move with an intention to transcend something in our life, or to release an old patterns, or to get clarity about a certain situation.
The power is great!
We have the ability to heal ourselves. We are the best healers. Listen to that still small voice. It will guide you.
Our guru lives within us. We don’t have to look outside.
